H.E. Colonel General Khodaidad's statement

General KhodaidadThe government of Afghanistan has attempted to solve the drug problem, so that the children of this country as well as the youth of the world get rid of this ominous phenomenon.

And in this regard, in some provinces where the security conditions are sound, law and government’s autonomy has been secured, we have attained some achievements like: northern provinces (Balkh, Samangan, Sare-pul etc) but, unfortunately in the provinces where the enemies of the nation are operating and creating security problems, drug traffickers and “Mafias” get advantage of this opportunity and the drug cultivation rate has increased in those provinces.

Mostly the large amount of the drug produced is not used within Afghanistan, but is supplied to the international “Mafias” markets and is consumed.

Humans are not in respite from its hazards in any part of the world. Are these all supplied from Afghanistan? No, not only the international “Mafias” are involved in this dire trade, but some internal smugglers and “Mafias” are involved as well.

Since, without the involvement of some people, its trafficking seems impossible. I must say that, the poor farmers get very negligible profit from poppy cultivation, but the international “Mafias” get extreme benefits from it..
