The Communities of Ghor, Faryab, Ghazni and Bamyan provinces are rewarded with US$ 5.6 m for not cultivating poppy (Press Release)

Today, HE General Khodaidad, Minister of Counter Narcotics and Honorable Valerie C. Fowler, From US Embassy Kabul signed an agreement worth of US$ 5.6m to support four provinces that are either poppy free or have had significant reduction during 2007 poppy cultivation season.

Contract signed on:           21st July 2008
Expected Completion Date: 21st July 2009
Contracted Budget:           USD 560,688.00

First of all, I would like to welcome Mr. Anderew Shofar and the rest of the participants: After the announcement of the Annual Drug Survey Report for the year 2008, and according to the commitments of the Ministry of Counter Narcotics to the provinces of the country, this Ministry is seeking international assistance for 18 provinces of the country that were already poppy free.
