Colonel General Khodaidad was born in Oruzgan Province, Afghanistan on 12 February 1955.Young Khodaidad at that a time  completed his primary education at well known school called -Shahristan Primary School in 1967  and then received his high school diploma in 1972 from the Kabul military High school.

General Khodaidad also holds a graduate degree from National Defense Academy (NDA), The India Military Academy (IMA), and from Fronza Military Academy- Moscow.

According to teachers in Kabul Military High School General Khodaidad during his course of study was tolerant about defending his country, skillful and inventor with potential abilities.

On one side as military Commander in various positions in the country he stood against crucial and challenging political and military state of affairs and on the other hand he was very much social and commutes very sharply among the local tribesman creating a very balanced relation among different ethnic diversities in the country.

From 1977 till 1992 Colonel General Khodaidad Served in Afghan Army with Honor, Prestige and heroism. His military career as a loyal and brave soldier is well known and respected among military circles in Ministry of Defense and across the country.

His services and contributions to Afghan Army and the country are as follows:  

1977: Platoon Commander and Instructor of reserve School of Ministry of Defense.
1978: Company commander of military police of 29th Regiment Ministry of       
1978: Commander of reconnaissance Company of 29th Regiment of Ministry of            
Defense.
1979: Commander of Battalion of 37th Paratrooper Brigade Stationed in Logar  
Province.
1980: Commander of 2nd Training Battalion of 444 Paratrooper Brigade.
1981: Operational Director of 444 Paratroopers brigade
1982: Chief of staff of 444 Paratrooper Brigade.
1983: Commander of 444 paratroopers Brigade.
1984: Second in Command of 2nd Division.
1985: Commander of 2nd Division of Army.
1987: Commander of 14th Division of Ghazni Province and head of Defense council of Ghazni and wardak Province also commander of operational Groups of Ghazni, wardak and Centeral Afghanistan.
1990: Commander 54th Division and Chief of staff of No.6th Corp of Kunduz in North East Zone.
1990: Commander of operational groups of Takhar province the North Eastern Zone.
During the Course as Military Commander and a genius in tactical, operational capabilities in different provinces of Afghanistan, his charismatic personality and transparency as a loyal soldier to his duty influenced the community and even his opposite warring forces.

Colonel General Khodaidad during his years in military and service for the nation has the honor of receiving 52 prestigious medals in different fields.

After the fall of Dr. Najibullah’s Government in 1992 the coalition Government of mujahideen came into power, the emerging popularity of Colonel General Khodaidad among different political and social corners in the country made him the Minister of National Security of Islamic State of Afghanistan (1992).

Given the fact of circumstances after 1992 General Khodaidad technically decided to step aside temporarily and observe the situation from other perspective, therefore he preferred to leave the country and took refuge in United Kingdom but he was more actively involved in current affairs of Afghanistan defending the common interest of Afghanistan and fought for the restoration of democracy and rule of law.  

During exile in the United Kingdom, General Khodaidad were always looking forward to interact with the international community to convince them in drawing there attention toward Afghanistan for the supremacy of democracy and human rights and a government representing the people of Afghanistan. Following that in the year 2001 he was succeeded in conveying his peaceful message to international community which resulted in his return back to place where he loved to defend and help the people.

When Returned General Khodaidad engaged and still is trying in conversations and negotiations with international community in how to deal with Afghanistan and how to deal with the community because the type of duty he performed in torn desserts and mountains of Hindukush only he would know how to survive and how to win war and gets confident of people.

Colonel General Khodaidad always says that no matter how much military power can be but u can win only when u have confident and love of people, that is of course is one of the tools which made him a skilled Military General.

Colonel General Khodaidad was appointed as Deputy Minister for Counter Narcotics Ministry- in the Year 2005. As Deputy Minister he put a lot of efforts to fight with Narcotics. He travels regularly to very dangerous zones in Afghanistan and implemented the strategy.  With his role and implementation of Drug Control Strategy, number of Drug Traffickers is behind bars and lot of provinces became poppy free.

In July of 2007 as a result of his hard work he was appointed acting Minister of Counter Narcotics.

As Acting Minister Colonel General Khodaidad played a significant role and due to his struggle and efforts about 13 provinces became poppy free this is a great remark and achievment by the Ministry of Counter Narcotics. He took the responsibility of acting Minister in a very tough and challenging situation and achieved an important but valuable goal for the Government and people of Afghanistan.

Looking to his endless efforts and contributions the President officially named him as Minister of Counter Narcotics Later on he received full vote of Confidence with sweeping majority from parliament and officially appointed as Minister of Counter Narcotics.

Colonel General Khodaidad is confident in his line of work as Minister of Counter Narcotics and as he said in several occasions this year 2008 there will be more poppy free provinces, it shouldn’t be a surprise to the media and international community he was proved to be natural in the past as he made 13 provinces poppy free.

The staff who works with him in the current talk very well about him, specially his private office who deal with him during his office hours, describe him as full of energy and someone who always follow up, one of the complaints is that he never forgets follow ups no doubt that make him a good administrator.  

Colonel General Khodaidad is also a family man he have four daughters and two sons. Currently they are studying in different well known and prestigious schools and colleagues in UK. His children adore him as a loving and caring father always taking care of them in good way and there is no doubt the way he thought them valued character.    

Colonel General Khodaidad is a good horse rider and use to play polo and received numerous awards and its worth to mention that he received Blazer from National Defense Academy of India (NDA) by the hands of Late Indian leader and Prime Minister Ms. Indra Gandhi. He has also received Blue from Indian Military Academy (IMA).

As many Military Generals are serous and only thinks about work and work ,,, General Khodaidad is the opposite when its time for work – he only works and ask all his staff to do the same and when time for cheering up he makes jokes and is very much friendly and lovable.
