Dr. Mohammad Zafar, Deputy Minister of Counter Narcotics of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, while talking to the media during a press conference today said “Precursor are coming illegally from outside of Afghanistan through different trafficking routes; he further added that at present there is no legal use for some of the precursors in particular, Acetic Anhydrate”. MCN’s US$ 21.3 Million contract with Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development:

Date: 03/July/2008

General KhodaidadCounter Narcotics Trust Fund will sign a contract of US$ 21.3 million with MRRD, for the construction of more than 118 Km road in 14 provinces of the country. The project was designed by the Counter Narcotics Trust Fund and will be handed over for exploitation after 24 months of the contract.

Colonel General Khodaidad visits Sar-e-Pul Province

On 6th of Sawr 1386 (25th March 2008) General Khudaidad, the MCN minister left for a three-day visit and meeting the authorities of Jawzjan and Sare-pul provinces. The MCN minister says; “In order to encourage and rehabilitate Jawzjan and Sare-pul provinces, where poppy has been eradicated this year, two million US dollars have been allocated for these provinces.

Colonel General Khodaid visits Ghazni province

On Tuesday April 20th 2008, the MCN minister, General Khudaidad visited Ghazni province. During his visit, he met with the government authorities, PDCs and the local communities. Ghazni province was declared as “poppy free” by the MCN minister and an amount of one million US dollars is allocated by the GPI program as a reward for the rehabilitation of the province and encouragement of its people...
