MCN’s US$ 21.3 Million contract with Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and   Development

 


Hamed Karzai Counter Narcotics Trust Fund will sign a contract of US$ 21.3 million with MRRD, for the construction of more than 118 Km road in 14 provinces of the country.

The project was designed by the Counter Narcotics Trust Fund and will be handed over for exploitation after 24 months of the contract.

These roads will be constructed in 14 provinces of the country (Badakhshan, Badghees, Baghlan, Balkh, Farah, Herat, Jawazjan, Kunar, Neemroz, Nooristan, Sare pul, Takhar, Uruzgan, and Zabul) and will solve the basic transportation problems of the residents of these provinces. The projects were approved by the CNTF management board held on June 30th 2008 for funding a program called creation and provision of working opportunities.

Meanwhile, 2.3 Million US$ of the budget will be used for the construction of 18.7 Km road in the Chamtal district of Balkh province.

CNTF was officially established by the GoA, UNDP and donor countries for fighting illegal drug cultivation, production and trafficking in Afghanistan.
